Katharine LeCraw ~ About Me

Adjusting to the humidity, knowing every tea I order will be sweet, and seeing chicken and waffles reunited on a menu again… the South welcomes my family home!

After 12 years of military service, my husband separated from the Air Force and we are back in Atlanta rediscovering our roots. These roots have been dug up and relocated a number of times, from Mississippi to Nebraska to California. My husband, two daughters, and I have been blessed with a chosen family in each relocation. Through the grief, uncertainty, and joy of each transplant, deployment, and transition, God’s provision was always on display. Now being able to zoom out on His road map, I see how each seed planted has been watered, nourished, transplanted with care, and strategically positioned beside streams of living water that have allowed our family to bear much fruit.

I wasn’t always a counselor. I have been blessed with many titles along life’s journey: a Georgia State journalism grad, a professional cheerleader, a dance instructor, a stay-at-home mom, a teacher, a women’s ministry coordinator, and a worship leader. However, His calling was always to counsel. In dance, I created somatic expression that helped a dancer process the suicide of a friend. In motherhood, I nurtured secure attachment for my children while providing emotional coaching. In women’s ministry, I facilitated a psychoeducational group on grace-based parenting. In teaching students post-pandemic, I found each moment of one-on-one instruction became therapeutic in nature. With His calling repetitively clear, I took on a new title of graduate student.

I completed my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree at Liberty University who emphasized spiritual integration to cultivate a holistic form of therapy. Throughout my practicum and internship, I gained clinical experience working with a diverse population of children, teens, and adults while also gaining a certification for Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts premarital counseling. In group therapy, I have coordinated and facilitated social-emotional learning groups for children and parenting groups for adults. Providing an eclectic approach to therapy, I prioritize collaborative treatment planning with each client that is uniquely tailored to their worldview. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Internal Family Systems, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Person-Centered Therapy, I may utilize various interventions from art to journaling to create a therapeutic experience that will lead to true transformation from the inside out.

Through my own spiritual growth and development, God has provided a restoration within me which allows me to experience a newfound freedom daily. This is something I hope to share with others as I walk alongside my clients in their struggles, fears, and pain. As you can see from my writing style, I am one who loves metaphors, and I utilize them often in the counseling room. Jesus himself taught in parables. Creating connections that are tangible and relatable to my clients is important to me. Externalizing an internal issue can create a shift in mindset that develops clarity and curiosity. If you are seeking relief and restoration, I would love to help you grow those deep and foundational roots under the surface so you can blossom in a way that brings fulfillment and new meaning to your life.
