Our therapists utilize various tools for improving relationships (premarital and marital), career development, and personality assessments. We also provide assessments for substance addiction and sexual addiction.
We will glad to help you determine which may be useful for you and connect you with a therapist trained and experienced in the use of each assessment.
Premarital Assessment
SYMBIS stands for Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts. The assessment is a 15-page report packed with practical and personalized insights, making it a powerful pre-marriage tool. The number of premarital sessions can be decided by the facilitator, with an average of 4-8 meetings.
The SYMBIS report begins with an assessment of the marriage momentum, an aggregate measure of the couple’s responses. This is based on the following.
Four main sections of the assessment
- Mindset: Research reveals 5 possible attitudes toward marriage. The SYMBIS report not only shows you which one each person has but how their mindsets mesh.
- Wellbeing: A marriage can only be as healthy as the two people in it. The report reveals the psychological, emotional, and spiritual health of each person as well as any “caution flags” needing to be explored.
- Context: One marries not only another person but also their circumstances or their “baggage.” The report reveals each person’s social support, financial picture, and family of origin. Second marriages and blended families can also be addressed.
- Dynamics: The Report shows how two complex and unique God-given personalities combine on the issues that matter most: love, sex, communication, conflict, attitude and spirituality.
The assessment is beautifully designed. There are over 50 discussion starters on each page of the report, which evoke the experience and competence of the facilitator and ensure lively engagement from the couple.
The assessment is $35, sent to the couple by the facilitator. After payment, each person independently answers 300 questions in about 30 minutes. The assessment is completed virtually, providing maximum flexibility for the couple. Once you go through the assessment with your facilitator, you will be able to reflect on it without confusing symbols, language, or constructs seen in other assessments. There is also an optional workbook that can be purchased that can enhance the experience with thoughtful exercises and additional questions.
Marital Assessments
Marital Enrichment – SYMBIS+
SYMBIS + is for couples who have been married and has everything mentioned above in the SYMBIS Assessment with two additional pages. Time styles reveal how the couple’s personalities have been hard-wired for time, leading to practical solutions and reallocation of time. Harmony is a snapshot of how the couple is experiencing the issues that matter the most.
