Get to Know Our Interns!

Could you or someone you know benefit from lower-cost Christian counseling?

With prices rising everywhere, Restoration Counseling of Atlanta is excited to offer our community some lower-cost Christian counseling options. Several new interns have joined our team to provide clinically sound Christian counseling services at a reduced rate! Often, when people think about interns, what comes to mind is someone young with little to no experience. However, in the world of counseling, this is not true.

What Is an Intern?

A master’s level counseling intern is a graduate student in the advanced stages of rigorous academic and clinical training, often just months away from full licensure. These interns have completed foundational coursework in human development, mental health, ethics, and evidence-based counseling techniques, and are now applying that knowledge in real-world settings under close supervision by licensed professionals here at Restoration Counseling of Atlanta. Because they are immersed in the most up-to-date research and practices, interns bring fresh perspective, energy, and a deep commitment to helping others. Choosing a counseling intern is a reliable and cost-effective option—clients benefit from high-quality care informed by the latest developments in the field, combined with the attentive and thoughtful presence of someone deeply invested in their growth as a counselor.  Our team at Restoration devotes specific time to the personalized training, development, and mentoring of our interns.  We believe they are an outstanding option, as you work with someone who has specific life lessons under their belt and is also receiving constant feedback and development throughout their professional journey.

Meet Our Interns!

Nicholas Bernier is a graduate student intern who is passionate about walking alongside individuals navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, and the internal struggles we often keep hidden. Nicholas brings a calm, empathetic presence to the counseling space, creating a safe and judgment-free environment where clients can feel fully seen and heard. Drawing from a person-centered foundation, he values authenticity and collaboration and integrates cognitive behavioral techniques to support lasting emotional and behavioral change. Nicholas welcomes clients to incorporate their faith into the counseling process and believes that God’s Word can be a powerful part of healing for those who desire it, offering hope, purpose, and restoration along the journey.

Christella Hedrich is a graduate student intern who offers a therapeutic space that is safe, considerate, and hopeful. Her goal is to allow clients to unravel and make sense of their stories and gain deeper understanding of themselves. She is driven in her work with diverse individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, family of origin issues, interpersonal and relationship dynamics, cross-cultural matters, and life transitions or difficulties (career change, parenthood, infertility, perinatal care, etc.). Christella uses insights from evidence-based research and always finds assurance in the truth of God’s word to bring healing and restoration.

Priscilla Parsons is passionate about helping adults and couples navigate complex emotions, relational dynamics, and deep self-reflection. She works to uncover the root causes of distress, guiding clients toward lasting change by addressing unprocessed experiences. Rather than focusing on blame—whether toward self or others—she helps clients recognize the deeper patterns at play, fostering understanding and self-compassion as a foundation for meaningful change. She draws from attachment theory and complex trauma research to integrate tailored approaches to help clients reconnect with themselves and others. Her thoughtful and exploratory style creates space for clients to gain insight into how their experiences have shaped them and take steps toward healing.

Restoration’s counseling interns have a wide array of life experience, and have completed all coursework legally required to become counselors. They have demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in their ability to communicate and help others. In addition, all interns present information from their cases (keeping confidentiality) to experienced counselor supervisors who ensure that the interns are providing their clients with the highest standard of care. When you see one of our counseling interns, you essentially get the benefit of two brains thinking about your case for the price of one!  If you would like to learn more about counseling with a Restoration intern, they would be happy to offer you a free 10-minute consultation call to answer your questions.
