If you feel like something is just “off” but you don’t know why, it may be that anxiety or depression is getting to you. Either way, we have specific Christian counseling approaches, and we can help. It doesn’t matter if you know which one is the culprit. Sometimes it’s both. But together, we can figure it out.
Anxiety
Heightened anxiety can make us miserable! It disrupts our sleep, makes it hard to eat, and makes us feel paranoid. When we’re struggling with this, we can’t shake those unwanted thoughts, and we often feel like someone has hijacked our bodies. It’s just plain awful!
We can teach you techniques to manage your thoughts, bring peace back to your life, and find relaxation again. We do this by working through a variety of proven methods. These strategies work on many of the symptoms of anxiety.
Common Symptoms Include:
- Anxious thoughts
- Uncontrolled fears
- Intense physical reactions (stomach pain, racing heartbeat, excessive sweating)
- Perfectionistic thoughts
- Panic attacks
- Social avoidance/panic
Depression
Other times we are overcome with more than just sadness. When depression occurs, it often takes a while for us to figure it out.
Things that point us toward thinking we have depression include:
- Excessive sleeping
- Apathy or no motivation
- Sadness
- Negative thinking
- Hopelessness
- Suicidal thinking
- Social isolation
Other Related Issues
Sometimes specific struggles we have can create anxiety and depression in our lives. We don’t always get to control the things happening to us, but they can create anxiety and depression. These could include one or more of the following:
- Bipolar Disorder
- Chronic Pain
- Emotional Dysregulation
- Lack of Forgiveness
- Grief
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Postpartum Depression
- Stress
We have therapists available to meet with you in person or virtually, so please let us know how we can help.
