Life is not easy, and everyone needs help sometimes. Whether you have a diagnosable mental health condition or not, you surely know what it’s like to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless. These experiences are simply part of the human condition in a fallen world.
How can we deal with everyday annoyances or crushing tragedies? By walking together, offering a welcoming presence, listening to one another, and offering insight in humility, helping a fellow traveler limp into the presence of the God who is with us. By doing this, we incarnate the presence of Christ, creating a safe space to shed our tears, vent our frustrations, and confess our failures. In this context, we can safely be comforted, challenged, and changed. This is the essence of Christ-centered counseling.
A crucial step toward healing is reaching out for the help you need. You may find what you need in a friend, a parent, or a pastor. In fact, I hope you are leaning into your community for help. However, if you need an additional resource, I would be honored to help you. My background includes work in a crisis hospitalization setting, addiction treatment, and ministry settings, so I am comfortable addressing everyday problems, spiritual issues, or significant mental illness.
Whether you’re an adult struggling to grasp the promises of God in the midst of grief and disappointment, a couple longing for connection, or a teen overwhelmed by worry, I would love to sit with you, get to know your story, and walk beside you on the path to healing as a compassionate guide and empathetic listener.
While I am clinically informed and have training in research-based approaches, I know that deep, lasting transformation needs a sure foundation. Ultimately, secular approaches alone may offer symptom reduction but cannot adequately speak to our deepest longings for meaning, security, and ultimate hope. Only God’s word can tell us who we are, where we’ve gone wrong, the purpose of our lives, and how we can know the God who enters into our pain and meets us with grace.
