Nancy Messner, MA, APC

My tears have been my food day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?” Psalm 42:3

Does this Psalm express the feelings that you have been holding inside? Has disappointment and grief left you feeling broken and worn out?   Have you bravely reached out to loved ones only to feel pangs of rejection, judgment, and isolation?

Although we are not alone in this world, sometimes the weight and complexity of the stressors we face become “out of range” of our usual support community. Instead of feeling supported by those around us, we are lonely in the middle of a crowd. The problems both outside and inside of us seem unwelcome burdens to those around us.

You do not need to continue to suffer alone. I desire to come alongside those who find themselves alone in their suffering.

It is my privilege to offer a safe place to share your burdens and receive the care and understanding you need. Therapy is a place where your needs are front and center. Your perspective matters, and you can truly be heard.

In addition to being heard, therapy provides an opportunity to develop and grow. Often people who are finally heard feel immediate relief! This is important for the here and now- your present.

Yet, immediate relief is only the beginning. The “work” that we will do together is designed to stimulate insight, deepen understanding, and provide coping skills that can propel you into the days to come-your future.

I genuinely believe that as believers, we are to “be Christ” to one another. I offer myself as His “hands and feet” as a therapist. I am here to help you through your emotional and mental difficulties as you face life’s challenges.

I pledge to work openly and honestly with you as we seek the light of God’s discernment to shine on your struggles.

I have had the privilege of helping singles struggling with trauma and depression, women in marital crises, families with special needs children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, older adults, and others who feel on the fringe of their faith communities.

Be encouraged that there are many helps we can find together in your time of need. For instance, we can work together on mood difficulties such as anxiety or depression using behavioral techniques. We can also learn more about healthy boundaries and how to implement them. Healthy boundaries empower us to gain control of our part in relationships and manage them well.

Therapy often involves thinking through the past and understanding what makes the behavior make sense today. Therapy can give you the space to do this “work.”

I hope my words are compelling to you. I invite you to take the next step and reach out today. My information and email are below.

We welcome you!
