Welcome Paige Santmyer!
My name is Paige Santmyer, and I am very excited to be joining the team at Restoration Counseling of Atlanta (RCA) in Roswell. I graduated from my master’s program at Richmont Graduate University earlier this year with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Trauma Certificate and thoroughly enjoyed getting hands-on experience during my internships last year. During that time, I worked with teens ages 12 to 17 at an Atlanta-area inpatient facility as well as saw clients ages six to sixty-something individually at the Hope Center in Dallas, GA. I have worked with a wide variety of needs, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship problems, individuals contemplating divorce or recovering from extramarital affairs, extensive trauma histories, self-esteem building, life transitions, and more. I particularly enjoy helping teenagers navigate through their middle and high school years when they struggle with identity, boundaries, confidence, and school and social pressures.
I am excited to work at RCA because it provides an opportunity to do God’s work and integrate Christian faith-based values into therapy. However, I also respect the comfort level of the client regarding integrating faith into the session and am happy to let the client lead according to their comfort level with spiritual concerns.
In The Counseling Room
In the counseling room, I highly value the power of the therapeutic relationship and believe individuals grow when they are met with an environment of genuineness, warmth, acceptance, and empathy. I also believe in addressing the individual’s entire personhood, assessing needs in all domains of life instead of focusing solely on mental health needs. I use a combination of techniques, drawing from client-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt therapy, and strength-based techniques to meet clients where they are and walk with them through the process of creating positive change.
