Rebeca Gilbert, MA, LPC, NCC

I’m Rebeca Gilbert – so glad you’re here! This section is for you. About what you’re looking for, where you are stuck and how we can work together.

I do my best work with clients who are motivated and ready to change. I get energized working with clients who want deeper, more connected relationships, but don’t know where to start. It is my passion to help them find relief, identify stuck places, and when applicable offer practical strategies. A therapist cliche that I intentionally avoid is, “How does that make you feel?” That is not my style.

I work hard to be present in the room, connecting with and listening to you. I am not a passive, smile and nod therapist. Yes, we will talk about feelings, and look at your childhood to understand what shaped you, where you picked up habits and thoughts, but I believe that change happens in the present.

I am passionate about empowering and educating my clients about what happens in their bodies when they are afraid, anxious, and triggered. We work to understand the normal biological responses and unique challenges that pop up when each client is triggered.  Then together we collaborate to re-connect the brain, calm the body, and bring about emotional balance.

After working together, my clients frequently tell me that they are more prepared to cope with issues outside of the counseling room, to better manage their emotions, and are better able to speak truth to themselves. I don’t think I will ever get tired of hearing my clients say that they see a change in their lives and they applied what we worked on in our counseling sessions to their everyday lives.
