New Year, New You?

The new year often brings forward thoughts about the fast approaching next year. You hope and dream of making it the best year ever, or at least better than last year. As you reflect on your life, consider some new categories for growth.

Sometimes permitting yourself to ask a few key questions can bring about great opportunities for positive change. Even if you think there are no possibilities for more relational, financial, or vocational freedom, that might not be true. The simple task of asking yourself questions can bring about change.  You can create the suggestion in your mind that things could be different. Sometimes, this can create motivation to move towards that difference, even when it wasn’t there before. Here are three areas where you can ask key questions to facilitate change:

Alignment

  • Are you doing the things that you value the most?
  • Do your present-day strivings match where you want to be?  Can you make any small shifts to start heading in the direction you want to go?
  • Are you pursuing growth in areas where you want change?

Balance

  • Are you giving priority to all the important areas of your life?
  • Do you find that one dimension of your life has been given too much attention?  What might happen if you made some small adjustments in that area?
  • What little goals could you set that might help you achieve more balance?

Renewal

  • Do you take time to reflect on the things that give you the most refreshment, not simply speaking to your anxieties?
  • Could you add smaller versions of that reflection into your routine, gain that refreshment, and improve your performance in other parts of your life?
  • Could you improve your prayer life and quiet meditation, recognizing that these things bring renewal?

As you dare to challenge the ways you’ve done things before, you find new freedom and relief.  Restoration Counseling of Atlanta hopes you are able to stop and ask these questions of yourself. Feel free to reach out to us to continue the conversation about pursuing a new you!
