Andrea Brandt, MA, MS, NCC, LPC

Do you ever wonder if you drink too much? Has someone told you that you need help? Do you use illegal substances to ease emotional pain? Is there someone in your life who needs help? Did you grow up with a parent who used substances? Substance abuse is a problem that affects not only the person who is using, but their family and community. I understand, and I want to help.

I am passionate about working with clients who are ready for change. As a counselor who serves people who are addicted to substances, their spouses, and adult children of alcoholics, I understand the various problems people face when they are impacted by addiction. Long-term change isn’t easy and being sober is more than just not using – it also entails learning new, healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and living.

I also understand that spouses and adult children of addicts face unique challenges. Knowing how to show love to someone who uses substances while creating, communicating, and maintaining healthy boundaries can be confusing and frustrating. Often family members need to heal from their own emotional wounds and learn how to develop healthier relationships, communication patterns, or parenting styles.

As your counselor, I offer a nonjudgmental relationship where you can heal, learn, and grow. Together we will rely on God and draw upon your strengths to help you overcome challenges, and we will use well-researched methods to help your brain, body, and emotions heal from substance use and/or past hurts. Along the way, I will equip you with practical, helpful skills that will help you think clearer, manage emotions, create boundaries, and connect with others.

In addition to working with people impacted by addiction, I save several openings in my calendar to counsel people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). If you struggle with OCD, you know the frustration of distracting intrusive thoughts, disturbing anxiety, and time-consuming rituals or behaviors. As your counselor, I will encourage, equip, and empower you with the skills necessary to stop OCD from controlling your life.

I believe that choosing the right counselor is an important step in taking charge of your well-being. If you think you may be interested in working together, please contact our new client coordinator or send me an email. I am happy to offer you a free 10-minute phone consultation to answer any questions that you may have about the counseling process and to discuss online counseling.
