Several new interns have joined our team to provide clinically sound Christian counseling services at a reduced rate! Often, when people think about interns, what comes to mind is someone young with little to no experience. However, in the world of counseling, this is not true.
What Is an Intern?
A master’s level counseling intern is a graduate student in the advanced stages of rigorous academic and clinical training, often just months away from full licensure. These interns have completed foundational coursework in human development, mental health, ethics, and evidence-based counseling techniques, and are now applying that knowledge in real-world settings under close supervision by licensed professionals here at Restoration Counseling of Atlanta. Because they are immersed in the most up-to-date research and practices, interns bring fresh perspective, energy, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Meet Our Interns!
Amelia Algood (Roswell) works with adolescents, teens, young adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, marital and relationship struggles, communication challenges, family conflict, life transitions, and challenges with self-worth and identity. She has a special passion for helping adolescent girls, teens, and young women navigate life’s most transformative seasons while developing a secure sense of self. Amelia uses a collaborative approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Theory to help clients gain insight, strengthen relationships, and experience meaningful growth. For clients who desire it, she also enjoys incorporating faith into the counseling process.
Alica Howard (Roswell) supports children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate anxiety, stress, trauma, self-worth, shame, guilt, and major life transitions. She has a special passion for helping young people develop a secure sense of self, supporting women through relationship and identity concerns, and walking alongside mothers experiencing postpartum anxiety and anger. Her approach integrates Client-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within a compassionate, collaborative space. When desired, she also incorporates faith into therapy, offering a Christ-centered framework for healing, growth, and lasting hope.

Restoration’s counseling interns have a wide array of life experience, and have completed all coursework legally required to become counselors. They have demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in their ability to communicate and help others. In addition, all interns present information from their cases (keeping confidentiality) to experienced counselor supervisors who ensure that the interns are providing their clients with the highest standard of care.
